Companies like Moen, whose matte black finish is shown here, are expanding their products to include more options in the durable finish. I love using my blue and white Juliska soup tureen for a centerpiece and red roses and fresh greens are always a classic. Mixing fresh greens with crystal candlesticks, white candles and these wonderful mercury glass trees brings the perfect mix to this centrepiece. I can just imaging the dance of soft light when the candles are lit playing off the metallic of the trees… sigh. I am very much a less-is-more kind of person as you can tell by the decor on my front porch.

I gave our sunroom mantle a quick fall look by adding orange dollar store pumpkins that I chalk painted in white and grey for a more neutral look. I switched the summer florals and lanterns to basic black lanterns to give the room a simple, cozy, rustic feel. I welcome fall into our home by clipping large bunches of Limelight hydrangeas from the garden and filling up various vases. You’ll find a vase filled with hydrangeas in almost every room of our home. I create vignettes by adding some neutral colour pumpkins like these from Pier1 Canada, creating quick and easy fall decor.

Tribal patterns and prints have been making their way into our homes. They have intricate patterns and lovely bright hues. I’m seeing a move toward warm grays and rich, earthy shades of camel, rust, tobacco and brown-blacks,” Ott says.
